    About the Role

    • This position requires the ability to provide zealous legal representation and work effectively with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
    • The ideal candidate will have experience with criminal law, especially youth defense, and be familiar with community-oriented defender practice.
    • A strong commitment to social justice issues and experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds is essential.
    • The attorney will also be responsible for staying up-to-date on relevant laws, policies, and best practices in the field of juvenile justice.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide high-quality legal representation to clients in delinquency and youthful offender cases.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues, community partners, and other stakeholders to achieve case goals and reduce disparities in the juvenile system.
    • Stay informed about relevant laws, policies, and best practices in the field of juvenile justice.
    • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

    Requirements

    • Admission to the Massachusetts bar or eligibility to practice law in Massachusetts.
    • Experience with criminal law, especially youth defense.
    • Knowledge of community-oriented defender practice.
    • Ability to provide trauma-informed and culturally competent representation.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Fluency in Spanish.
    • Lawyers with four or more years of experience.
