Do you want to be part of a newly formed organization that is designing and launching new business models across the world? If so, the AMXL supply chain team is looking for an experienced leader with a strong record of achieving results, to create and execute the worldwide AMXL supply chain by working closely with our retail and operations partners across the globe in order to effectively manage volume flows and fullness for our fulfillment centers and delivery stations. The role requires heavy index on dive deep, bias for action, and ownership.

    Amazon Extra Large (AMXL), formerly known as Special Handling, obsesses over customers by offering a white glove service where we deliver TVs and other large items like furniture in customers homes. Not only do we deliver large parcels, we unpack, assemble, install and sometimes even do tests, hauling away old items as needed. As we head into Peak, we continue to build our special handling fulfillment, delivery and services network and will add more fulfillment centers and delivery stations across NA. We are currently in the process of building out a network that is poised for big growth in the coming years.

    The Business Intelligence Engineer will support the rapid growth of this initiative by developing business metrics, mining data to uncover consumer insights and business opportunity, and partnering with internal stakeholders to drive the business. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical with proven experience delivering results.

    Specific responsibilities include identifying the necessary metrics and creating reports to increase understanding of the business, proactively identifying pain points or opportunities through systemic measurement. The Business Intelligence Engineer will be detail oriented, and possess expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis with a passion for delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders. The right candidate will blend advanced reporting with strong critical thinking and project management skills.

    Core Job Responsibilities include:


    • Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams and time zones, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions.


    • Partner with Data Engineering and Software Development Engineers to prioritize and define AMXL data and BI development needs.


    • Work with in-house scientists, global supply chain, transportation and logistics teams to identify new BI capabilities and projects.


    • Conduct deep dive investigations into operations execution and business problems, identify opportunities, and lead or support implementation (role varies by opportunity).


    • Analyze and visualize large scale geo-spatial logistics and transaction data to determine user behavior or delivery process problems, and output solid analysis report with recommendation.


    • Serve as liaison between operations business teams to achieve the goal of providing actionable insights into current delivery performance, and ad hoc investigations into future improvements or innovations. This will require data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.


    • Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.


    • Serve as liaison between North America and Europe teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration as well as standardizing processes across the globe to drive efficiency and effectiveness.


    • · Implement end to end reporting for the worldwide operational teams to highlight improvement opportunities.

    •Work with Business partners to ideate, design and implement complex reporting to support growing AMXL business


    •Automate and improve existing manual processes


    •Create tools to help deep diving and investigations into operations execution and business problems


    •Analyze and visualize large scale Supply chain data and transaction data to determine freight movement and placement, and output solid analysis report with recommendation.


    •Standardize processes and bring parity across regions and business teams.

    Basic Qualifications

    • 10+ years of professional or military experience
    • 5+ years of SQL experience
    • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
    • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
    • Experience with AWS technologies
    • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
    • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
    • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
