- Repair or replace plant equipment or systems on a scheduled or emergency basis. Perform preventative maintenance activities as required. Communicate directly with Production / Engineering / Tool Room departments to coordinate maintenance and repair work. Assist with diagnosing and trouble-shooting maintenance related issues. Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs. Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
- Understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic power sources.
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment. Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Must own tools required to perform general maintenance tasks.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed. Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary.
- Read and understand blueprints and/or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.
- Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to communicate ideas to others for machining or designing.
- Able to use computer software, e-mail, spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to mechanical maintenance and repair work, including, lockout procedures and MSDS. Ability to weld a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, compressors).
- Physical mobility to work in physically challenging positions (lying on the floor, in cramped spaces, etc.).
- Comfortable working high off the floor (on ladders, top of equipment, in a man lift, etc.
- Wears steel toed shoes.
- The employee is exposed to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to cutting and drawing oils. The environment is not air-conditioned during summer months
