    Project Manager Opportunities

    This recruitment is for one Project Manager I position to support the Lead Project Manager on projects in the Airfield Program, one Project Manager I position to support the Lead Project Manager with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Special Systems on projects in the West Field Redevelopment Program, and two Project Manager I to support the Infrastructure Program.

    Projects/Programs

    1. Airfield Program

    The $750M Airfield Program includes a series of Design-Bid-Build and Construction Manager/General Contractor projects to improve runways and taxiways at SFO.

    2. West Field Redevelopment Program

    The $2B West Field Redevelopment Program includes a series of Design-Build projects including a parking garage, office building, cargo buildings, utility relocations, and paving to replace aging facilities and accommodate future growth at SFO.

    3. Infrastructure Program

    The Infrastructure Program include a series of Design-Build projects including:

    Replacement of Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS):

    The project will replace the existing Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS). System consists of all infrastructure, equipment, software, hardware at all entry lanes, exit lanes, and head end software/hardware. Replacement also includes the expansion of the parking guidance system, and implementation of a new mobile License Plate Recognition (LPR) enforcement application software/hardware with employee permit application.

    Mel Leong Treatment Plant Process Upgrades:

    The Project will increase the capacity of the Airport's Mel Leong Treatment Plant's sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system and improve the efficiency of the SBR's by incorporating activated granular sludge (AGS). Additional improvements to the Plant will be implemented as part of this Project.

    Position Description

    At the direction of the Lead Project Manager, the 5502 – Project Manager I (this position) shall be responsible to implement their assigned project with an Exceptional Project Outcome (EPO). This includes incorporating the stakeholders' needs/requirements, maintaining the project cost/schedule, and successfully activating the new facilities/systems.

    The essential functions of this classification include the following, as applicable to the assigned project:

    • Facilitate and coordinate the Contractor collaboration with Stakeholders, including internal Airport departments and outside agencies
    • Review Change Orders, RFIs, and Submittals and make recommendations for approval
    • Review Contractor Progress Payments and make recommendations for approval
    • Prepare Commission Packages for review and approval by the Lead Project Manager
    • Prepare and present project status update presentations at Partnering and other meetings
    • Represent the Lead Project Manager, as required, including, field coordination, meeting attendance, team collaboration, contract administration support, and coordination with the Contractor teams
    • Communicate with the Airport Duty Manager regarding project activities
    • Oversee the Contractor coordination with BICE plan review, responses, and inspections
    • Elevate lingering project issues to the Lead Project Manager, and assist in resolution, if required
    • Review, and recommend for submission, Weekly Reports and Monthly Reports
    • Act as the primary point of contact for notifications on safety and/or property damage incidences
    • Provide support to Contracts Procurement team for bidding, award, and contracting
    • Provide support to Grants Development team for planning, application, award process, reporting and closeout

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Familiarity with airfield design and construction principles, including FAA Advisory Circulars and airfield operational protocols
    • Experience with the design and construction of commercial and industrial facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and special systems
    • Familiarity with the principles of sustainability and the incorporation of sustainable measures and systems throughout the project lifecycle
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
    • Experience in managing project budgets, cost forecast and schedules
    • Clear understanding of a collaborative & integrated team environment
    • Experience with alternative delivery methods such as Design Build and Construction Manager/General Contractor

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering or planning plus four years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience, OR
    • A Bachelor's Degree in another field plus six years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, OR
    • Eight years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project, OR
    • California registration as professional engineer, landscape architect or architect.
    • Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.
    • One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
