    Job Summary/Basic Function
    About this Role:
    Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in nutrition. Duties will include teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate courses; participating in the planning, review, and evaluation of the nutrition & dietetics programs; demonstrate effective scholarly productivity and collaborate with faculty in areas of research, outreach, and pursuit of external funding. Salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience relevant for the advertised position.
    What You'll Do – Position Responsibilities:
    The Department of Nutrition, Hospitality & Human Services offers both an accredited undergraduate and graduate Didactic Program in Dietetics along with the Master of Science/Dietetic Internship program. The programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition & Dietetics. The department has approximately 300 undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers both Bachelor and Master of Science in Nutrition degrees with multiple concentrations- dietetics, sports nutrition, and applied nutrition along with a graduate certification in sports nutrition. Lamar University, located in Beaumont, TX, is a public university and part of the Texas State University System. The university has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade, with enrollment steadily increasing to more than 17,000. The metropolitan Beaumont area is located 85 miles east of Houston and has a population of 120,000. The strong local oil and gas industry serves as the primary economic engine of the region and has a global impact.

    Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
    • Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in Nutrition or has a concentration in Nutrition.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the specialty area of Sports Nutrition with the proven ability for excellence in teaching, research, and service. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
    • Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential
