Overview:
Medix is seeking an Engineering Manager for a leading medical device OEM located near Wheeling, IL. This individual will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering department within the metals business unit.
The role involves managing both sustaining engineering and new product introduction teams, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Main Purpose of Job:
The Engineering Manager will lead, manage, and provide direction to the Manufacturing Engineering department, supporting new product introduction, current product evolution, and ongoing process effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
Develop and nurture a continuous improvement culture to enhance quality and operational excellence with the machining division: wire EDMs, Swiss CNCs, mills, lathes, and kuka robotics.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies to support new and existing product lines. Purchase new capital equipment.
Ensure activities are performed in compliance with Quality System requirements and EHS policies.
Oversee the execution of production process qualifications, product line validations, and product qualifications.
Continuous optimization of engineering throughput using lean and six sigma methodologies.
Organize interdepartmental activities, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget constraints.
Participate in the guidance and evaluation of team members' career development plans aligned with growth opportunities and company Values.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
8 years of manufacturing work experience in a heavy machining environment, preferably CNCs.
6 years of supervisory experience.
Strong leader, clear communicator, and highly organized project manager.
Knowledgeable in capital equipment and evolution within QMS and a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrable track record in creative problem solving and use of lean manufacturing tools: six sigma, Kaizen, AIAG core tools, SPC, APQP, PPAP, FMEA.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
