    Duties

    • Demonstrates commitment to the education of children by supporting the organizational vision, mission, guiding principles, and strategic direction.
    • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates the Prek-12 instructional program and ensures the program's compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines as well as current research and best practice.
    • Fosters instructional program and services improvement through curriculum development and technology integration
    • Coordinates the development and monitors the implementation of all course content, skill, knowledge and performance areas, scope and sequence, and articulation of the curriculum in the District Prek-12.
    • Coordinates the development and monitors the implementation of a balanced Prek -12 assessment system that meets the expectations of RtI. Serves as the District Assessment Coordinator.
    • Assumes responsibility for the documentation and dissemination of all curricula and for a Board approval process for all new and revised/updated curricula.
    • Guides and collaborates with the staff in the selection of instructional materials and resources, their modification, revision, deletion, organizational pattern and use, including a process for their systematic replacement and updating.
    • Lead and collaborate with the staff in the identification, development of, training in and implementation of instructional methods appropriate to the respective curricula they support which are aimed at the continuous improvement of student achievement and expansion of the instructional repertoire.
    • Coordinates and maintains the mentoring program for new teachers.
    • Collaborates with staff and parents, oversee and lead the development and implementation of a program of instruction which will meet both the group and individual needs of gifted/talented students.
    • Collaborates with staff and parents, oversee and lead the development and implementation of a program of instruction which will meet both the group and individual needs of students identified as English Language Learners (ELL).
    • Supports the Technology Director in developing technology-driven instructional applications.
    • Collaborates with the staff to develop and maintain a program of continuous staff training/retraining in support of student achievement and other District and approved building goals.
    • Assists in the development of and administers all budgets related to curriculum, instructional programs, assessment, staff development, and grants.
    • Meet regularly with building principals regarding building level curriculum
    • Executed all budgeting, accounting, and business procedures related to curriculum, assessment and instruction appropriately according to District and Board policies as well as local, state and federal regulations.
    • Act as adviser to the District Superintendent on all questions relating to curriculum, assessment, and instructional affairs of the District.
    • Assists in establishing and maintaining good relations with civic, professional, service, parent organizations, legislators and the community in general; and by having an active interest and involvement in community activities.
    • Engages in professional growth activities to enhance job performance and/or meet changing job requirements.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree (required), Master's Degree in Educational Administration or Curriculum (preferred)
    • Hold a valid, Illinois Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential (or an equivalent out-of-state credential which is transferable to Illinois)
    • Experience working with adult learners, coaching teachers, and delivering professional development
    • A deep understanding of instruction, including theories of literacy and effective math instruction
    • A deep understanding of the IL Common Core Standards, current trends and best practices in curriculum design and instruction
    • At least four years of teaching experience in an rural and urban school settings, serving low income and minority students, at multiple grade levels (preferred)
    • Experience coaching, leading and supporting teachers within math and language arts
    • Strong record of helping students achieve academic success, primarily with minority and low- income students
    • Significant experience with curriculum development, daily lesson planning, and unit planning
    • At least two years of experience leading other teachers to achieve strong academic results with historically underachieving students
    • Excellence in time management, taking initiative, and follow-through
    • Experience in analyzing data and using results to modify instructional practices
