    Job Title Laboratory Coordinator Summary


    The Exercise Science Lab Coordinator will be responsible for managing all of the day-to-day activities of the Exercise Science and Anatomy and Physiology Labs within the department.

    The successful candidate will be committed to supporting the faculty and students teaching and conducting research in these labs, mentoring students, and maintaining the equipment, budget, and inventory of the labs.

    Duties and Responsibilities


    • Teaching three (3) credits per semester. Specific courses to be decided based on successful candidates' expertise and departmental need.
    • Managing the laboratory schedules and coordinating the day-to-day activities with faculty, staff, and students in the department.
    • Oversee the ordering, set-up, and maintenance of all laboratory equipment and supplies for all ongoing teaching and research activities.
    • Training and supervision of undergraduate student workers and graduate assistants to assist in the laboratory.
    • Preparation of labs, including set-up and clean-up.
    • Collection of assessment data as described in the departmental assessment plan.
    • Manages all aspects of clinical placement including but not limited to, maintaining agreement/affiliation letters, conducting/maintaining onboarding clinical rotations, creating and maintaining databases for clinical rotation placements and track student progress, and other duties as assigned.
    • Additional duties may include advising students, invoicing, and maintaining laboratory policy and procedure manual and research protocols/IRBs.
    Required Qualifications


    • Master's degree (M.S.) in Exercise Physiology or equivalent.
    • Current CPR/AED certification by hire date.
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and statistical packages (SPSS).
    • Knowledge of basic Exercise Testing laboratory techniques.
    • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and its maintenance.
    • Knowledge of research protocols (IRB and grant preparation and management) and data management.
    • Ability to teach and train undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Must be adept at multi-tasking.
    • Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll's mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Three or more years of related work experience.
    • Relevant certifications (ACSM and/or NSCA).
    • Experience using learning management systems, such as Canvas.
    Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions

    This position works in person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. This position is a 10-month full time role working approximately 37.5 hours per week.

    There may be an opportunity to work this July to help the department prepare the newly renovated lab space.

    Physical Requirements


    Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

    Hours Full Time FLSA Exempt (Salary) Compensation & Benefits

    Starting salary will be $45,000 - $50,000, commensurate with qualifications.
