    Position descriptionClinical Pathologist/Clinical Informatics-Department of Laboratory MedicineThe University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Laboratory Medicine is seeking a full-time Clinical Pathologist with training in clinical informatics.

    This position is at the Assistant or Associate level in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series, which emphasizes strong commitment to clinical service and teaching.

    Clinical/translational research or other creative scholarly activities would be a benefit for applicants. Applicants must hold either an M.D. or equivalent degree with eligibility for California medical licensure and board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology. Subspecialty fellowship training in Clinical Informatics, with board certification is also required, at the time of appointment.

    The successful candidate will be a member of a team responsible for the assessment of clinical workflow through the entirety of the UCSF Clinical Laboratories.

    The candidate must have experience with Epic Electronic Medical systems and be adept in using the EMR to gather clinical data on patient cohorts.

    It is expected that the this faculty member will collaborate with many other faculty in Laboratory Medicine as well as other Departments in developing informatics based approaches to improve patient evaluation and management.

    Facility with computer science is a plus, but not required. The successful candidate should have strong experience in dealing with clinical laboratory data management. The successful candidate must have good communication skills and demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
    Candidates will also be required to play a significant role in teaching fellows, pathology residents and medical students.

    Development of translational and collaborative research projects as well as participation in quality improvement projects is a long-term goal of these positions.

    Salary and title will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and training.
