    Description

    BASIC PURPOSE


    The successful candidate will work with a team to complete robot automation of manufacturing equipment to form automated work cells.

    This position will primarily develop robot programs but will also assist with building, integrating, and installing complete control systems for automated work cells.


    MINIMUM POSITION SPECIFICATIONS


    Associate degree in Electronics Engineering plus minimum of 2 years experience related to programming and system integration of robots in a manufacturing environment.

    Certification or experience with Fanuc Handling Tool Operations Programming is preferred. Experience with robot and PLC systems integration and Fanuc iRVision 2D is also preferred.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Develop programs for robots used in automated work cells including interfacing with vision systems, HMIs, and PLCs.
    Experience with Fanuc is preferred.
    Experience with Yaskawa and Universal Robots is a plus.
    Install robots and Equipment according to developed layouts.
    Demonstrates a working knowledge of electrical schematics and pneumatics. Experience with servo-controlled motors is a plus.
    Demonstrate understanding of electrical controls and communications such as Ethernet IP and Modbus RTU/TCP IP protocol.
    Collaborates with Controls Engineer in overseeing the wiring of communications, logic and safety systems between robots and equipment.

    Work with the Automation Supervisor in the evaluation of pre-manufactured equipment being considered for purchase ensuring adherence to Hutchinson design specifications and requirements with primary focus on machine controls, efficiency, reliability, maintenance requirements and preventive maintenance, personnel and machine safety, and conformance to Requirements from Vendors document.

    Provide training regarding machine operation and maintenance requirements for internal designed robot equipment and manufacturing cells.
    Assists with the selection and ordering of electrical and vision components.
    Designs and develops new manufacturing techniques to support new product development.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
    Reports to Director of Engineering. Directs activities of other subordinate technical personnel when assigned.

    Coordinates activities with Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Research & Development, Laboratory services and Product Engineering relative to current and potential programs.
