    Job Description

    GeoSearch is in need of a Statistician Programmer to join their team in Moscow, ID. As part of the role, you will be involved in various tasks such as designing and testing automated data pipelines, statistical modeling, and developing innovative programs for interpreting Lidar data. Communication and innovation are key elements of this position, along with providing training to other team members.

    We are looking for a candidate to work on-site in Moscow, ID, and relocation assistance can be provided if needed.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Code, test, and apply statistical models for geospatial and data-mining applications with Lidar data.
    • Develop new methods to address client requests using Lidar data.
    • Resolve technical, mathematical, and statistical issues.
    • Write detailed design documentation and program specifications.
    • Identify and rectify errors within workflows.
    • Maintain program integrity and operational controls.
    • Collaborate with the team to enhance product quality and efficiency.
    • Participate in promotional activities and project management for remote sensing and GIS.
    • Collect geospatial field data in the field independently.
    • Take corrective action during system operations.

    Qualifications:

    • MS or PhD degree in a technical field related to natural environments.
    • 2+ years of experience in quantitative data analysis or software development.
    • Proficient in Python and/or R.
    • Ability to extract information from complex data sets.
    • Experience in statistical accuracy-testing.

    Additional Desirable Qualifications:

    • Expertise in machine learning technologies.
    • Proficiency in working with remote sensing and geospatial data in Python.
    • Knowledge of LiDAR data manipulation and acquisition.
    • Experience with relational databases and data visualization.
