    Objective and Purpose:

    The Billing Specialist is responsible for correct and timely submission of claims from the PMS to the clearinghouse to be sent to the various payers. This includes daily tasks such as identifying any errors the clearinghouse has flagged as needing additional items/information prior to submitting to the payer. Additionally, the role involves resolving submission errors, utilizing dental provider software systems, and collaborating with other departments to address issues hindering proper claim submission.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Reviewing and correcting all clearinghouse edits for demographic, coding, or other errors.
    • Working rejections from carriers to resubmit claims for payment.
    • Adding clinical attachments via the clearinghouse to send to carrier for payment.
    • Effectively navigate and utilize various dental practice management systems to find any information needed to submit the claim.
    • Updating basic information on patient accounts across multiple dental practice management systems.
    • Calling payers and utilizing carrier portals for eligibility and other insurance information.
    • Communicating to offices, via a ticketing system, issues or errors that need corrections or more information.
    • Relaying patterns of errors causing increased clearinghouse work to RCM management to discuss with clinics.
    • Communicate with proper departments for any issues prohibiting proper and timely submission of claims.

    Requirements:

    • 2 years of revenue cycle experience
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word, Google Suite
    • Knowledge of the revenue cycle and how billing and coding effect revenue
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Comfort and flexibility working in a fast-paced health environment.
    • Proven track record of customer service skills

    Work Conditions:

    • Candidate must be able to travel as required for business needs.
    • Candidate must be able to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
    • Candidate must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

    Position Pay Range

    $60,000—$70,000 USD
