    Purpose

The Mudrock System Research Laboratory (MSRL) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in multiphase compositional modeling in nanoporous media, i.e., rocks associated with unconventional oil and gas reservoirs.

Research goals include 1) understanding the fundamental processes of fluid phase behavior in the nanoporous systems, and 2) fluid flow in nanoporous systems and the impact of these processes on oil and gas production or gas injection (CO2 or natural gas) enhanced oil recovery (EOR) in unconventional reservoirs.

We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated experience modeling experimental data from nanoporous rock systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct research
    • Interpreting and modeling data
    • Publish scholarly papers
    • Present at conferences
    Required Qualifications

PhD in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, geological sciences, or equivalent field with expertise in fluid flow and phase behavior thermodynamics, knowledge of gas (natural gas, CO2) enhanced oil recovery (miscible or immiscible displacement) and reservoir geology.

Programing skills particularly in python or C. Write reports and papers in Domestic and International Journals. Proven capacity for innovative, creative scientific analysis. Ability to give presentations to industrial affiliates and academic audiences. Proven publication and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and effectively in a group.
