    Position Summary

    This position requires the ability to perform all Associate level work [Telecommunications Engineer, Associate (4634)] independently. In addition to these roles, the position assists in the development of contracts to provide to project services; represent company when dealing with outside agencies; prepares studies and makes recommendations; ensure decisions consider long-term impact as well as short-term results; work independently most of the time, with support from Telecommunications Engineer, Senior and/or other senior telecom personnel; provides direction to design engineering personnel on overall design.

    This is an ESC represented exempt classification currently subject to collective bargaining.

    PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

    A reasonable salary range is:

    Minimum: $110,964.00
    Maximum: $168,756.00

    Job Responsibilities
    • Provides detailed project engineering and technical issue resolution.
    • Acts as a resource for engineering expertise and support in one or more areas of technology.
    • Analyzes project alternatives.
    • Builds constructive and effective relationships and communication with stakeholders.
    • Communicates effectively with suppliers and contractors.
    • Communicates technical and process issues and their impact to the schedule clearly and succinctly.
    • Ensure completion of drawings; related design documentation.
    • Establishes clear communications with internal and external clients to ensure that project scope is well defined and meets client needs.
    • Identifies and pursues appropriate training and trade seminar to update technology knowledge and their applications to PG&E systems.
    • Keeps up-to-date on emerging technologies and their applications to PG&E telecommunications' systems.
    • Monitors and controls engineering tasks on project.
    • Performs job walkdowns and handoffs.
    • Provides impact analysis of technical issues, and facilitates discussion to ensure accurate decision making processes in projects and/or operational setting.
    • Provides technical support on projects.
    • Works with design engineers to ensure that final documentation is accurate.
    • Resolves problems of moderate scope, typically requiring standard solutions.
    • Specs and creates Bill of Material.
    Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

    Qualifications

    Minimum:
    • A 4 year BS Degree in Engineering, or a 4-year BS degree in an Information Technology discipline in the US or the equivalent from inside/outisde the US
    • Experience in engineering, planning or operations, 3 years
    Desired:
    • 3 or more years of multiplexing experience
    • Ability to work independently with limited oversight
    • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and laws - for example FERC, NERC, CAISO, CPUC - as needed to perform at the job level
    • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local permitting requirements as needed to perform at the job level
    • Knowledge of engineering codes and standards as needed to perform at the job level
    • Competency in effectively building formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization
