    This position will be responsible for the following:

    Develop, maintain, and update the university's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) including functional annexes, Incident Command System (ICS) positions and checklists and departmental Emergency Action Plans (EAP).Provide training on structure (ICS) and response to the Policy Group, the Emergency Management, and the Crisis Communication Team.

    Work collaboratively with the various campus partners to implement systems, policies and procedures for identifying, collecting and analyzing risk-related information.

    Recommend strategies for identification and mitigation of hazards and risk.
    Works with the university collaboratively in terms of emergency preparedness and represents the college at meetings and work groups.

    Assist with developing and delivering program-specific training and education to the Tennessee State University community regarding emergency preparedness, mitigation, and continuity and disaster response procedures.

    Assist with coordination, design, and conducting of periodic emergency preparedness training and exercises, including tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises and drills to prepare Tennessee State University for effective response to major emergencies and to improve departmental preparedness.

    Provide emergency preparedness technical consultation, advice and service throughout the university to faculty, students, administration and staff.
    Develop and present public information and preparedness education programs for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
    Develop and update the Emergency Preparedness website and social media sites.

    Respond to emergencies when and as needed to perform emergency management functions and related duties during an emergency (such as providing support to and serving as the university's incident commander and staffing of the EOC).Assist in planning, implementing, activating and coordinating development and readiness of emergency operations centers (EOC).Coordinate the regular testing of the university's Emergency Mass Notification systems.

    Prepare or coordinate after action reports following exercises and major emergencies, including recommending improvements and incorporating findings into current emergency management plans.

    Keep informed of federal, state, and local regulations affecting emergency plans and ensure that plans adhere to these regulations.

    Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops related to emergency management to learn new information and to develop working relationships with other emergency management specialists.

    Develop instructional materials for the public and make presentations to campus and external constituents.
    Apply for federal funding for emergency management-related needs and administer and report on the progress of such grants.

    Knowledge and ability to send alerts via the campus emergency notification system 24/7Required to return to campus in the event of certain types of emergencies.

    Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree Required; Master's Degree Preferred.


    Requirements:


    Three to five years of related experienceDemonstrate a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles of emergency preparedness planning including; mitigation, preparedness, preventions, continuity of operations, recovery and response.


    Certification in the following area:

    ICS 100; S-120; IS-130; ICS 200; ICS-400; IS-700; IS-800; IS-910.Required to work evenings, weekends, and nightsMust be able to be on call after hoursExperience in complex issue analysis, creative problem solving, and the ability to provide strategic options and recommendations.

    Strong time management, organizational, problem solving and project management skills.
