About The Role
The Payroll Specialist assists in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation at Carver Companies. They are the front line and primary point of contact for employees who have payroll-related questions or concerns, escalating unresolved or non-routine matters to the Payroll Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll questions via phone, email, or in-person
- Collect and verify timekeeping data for all employees across divisions
- Calculate wages according to hours worked, including leaves overtime bonuses Enter payroll data into payroll systems accurately and maintain organized payroll records Calculate and process taxes deductions garnishments e.g child support court orders Issue pay statements mail paper checks distribute W-2s other payroll documentation Maintain complete employee personnel files including I-9s related compliance records Ensure payroll processes comply with applicable federal state Canadian regulations Monitor apply multi-state rules shift differentials travel pay incentives bonuses Support reporting audits required providing information HR Finance Investigate resolve discrepancies escalating non routine issues to Payroll Manager Assist manager daily operations special projects Support continuous improvements enhance efficiency accuracy Collaborate with HR Finance division managers ensure accurate timely administration Qualifications High school diploma equivalent required Associates Bachelor degree Accounting Finance Human Resources related field preferred Experience salary entry accounting strong attention detail confidentiality Familiarity multi-state Canadian industry practices preferred Physical Requirements Ability perform occasional counts assets lifting moving items up Additional Requirements Must authorized work United States Subject screenings background drug testing driving record check if Work Environment Work performed professional office setting moderate noise levels controlled temperatures Reasonable accommodations made individuals disabilities perform essential job functions Standard business hours extended needed What Offer Paid Time Comprehensive Medical Dental Vision Insurance Coverage AFLAC Company Holidays Retirement Plan Match Short Long Disability Group Life Employee Assistance Emergency Service Worker bonus Referral Bonus Discount NY only Employee And Compliance Information Employment at will either side terminate employment any time cause notice provided law Salary disclosure accordance New York State transparency laws Disclaimer Job description describe general nature level work performed exhaustive list duties responsibilities qualifications assigned position.
