Continental Maritime of San Diego, a Titan company, is a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy. Our skilled professionals have performed hundreds of ship repairs for the Navy and Military Sealift Command.
CMSD does repair on all types of major surface vessels including CVN, CG, and DDG, and all types of amphibious ships including LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships.
Our work also includes repairs and alterations to a wide range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability Systems.
Position SpecificsContinental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Area Manager to support our operations.
The Area Manager reports to the Program Manager and is the company's management representative responsible for the successful execution of a ship repair work package.
Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as a liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.In the absence of the Program Manager, the Area Manager is the primary interface between the Company, Ship's Company, and the contracting agency.
Working knowledge of US Navy/MSC/Commercial Ships and their systems is required.In-depth knowledge of ship repair and operation with clear understanding of all types and phases of work.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manual references, and work specifications.
Full working knowledge of procedures and practices.
Able to motivate and provide objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines and general policies.
Fully understands the scope of work and asks questions when in doubt.
Proficient with applicable SQMS Departmental Work Instructions and Procedures.
Position requires general familiarity with a variety of hand and power tools to ensure compliance with proper safety precautions and optimum performance of tasking.
Proficient in the use of PCs and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, desktop applications, and electronic mail programs.US Citizenship is required.
The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required
Physical Requirements
May be exposed to fumes, irritants, laser light, toxic chemicals, and potential electrical shock in an industrial or shipboard environment.
May involve gathering data while observing rotating or operating machinery.Frequently moves throughout the yard.
Must be able to maneuver, ascend, and descend stairs/ladders/ramps located inside various ships.
Ability to move more than 40 lbs.
May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams.
