    Position Summary & Responsibilities: Data Analyst Intern

    The Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) is seeking a data analyst intern to assist the Operations Section in the Workers' Compensation Division.

    This position will assist the Operations manager and the Data, Systems, and Statistics (DSS) unit with various data analysis & visualization projects related to occupational injuries/illnesses data, workers' compensation court data, and workers' compensation benefits data.

    This position will also assist with data wrangling/cleaning work for ongoing division projects and will have the opportunity to learn to code in statistical computing & data management programs such as R (R Studio), Excel, SQL & Python.

    Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Completeion of a High School diploma or equivalent GED qualification and some related college coursework.
  • Advanced math or Statistics in high school, communty college or university level.
  • Experience with computing.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer science coursework in high school, community college or university is a plus.
  • The position will have the opportunity to use advanced statistical software such as R and SQL as well as training. Coding experience is a plus.
  • Interest in state government career.
