    Empath Health is currently seeking a Pharmacist to join our team.

    The Pharmacist-HIV 340B serves as a subject matter expert and provides oversight to 340B pharmacy and covered entities, ensuring that the program is maximally utilized. Responsible for day-to-day compliant medication procurement, billing, and inventory management to ensure compliance standards are being upheld. Responsible for the compounding, preparing, packaging, dispensing, distribution, monitoring, and control of all drugs.Provides customer service, clinical recommendations, patient medication review, drug information and support to the patient's care team. Supports an efficient workflow and supervises pharmacy technicians.

    Job Duties:

    1. Serves as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for an outpatient pharmacy. Responsible for developing customer base, exploring opportunities for program expansion, and high touch customer service.
    2. Reviews the patient's medications, allergies, labs, and other pertinent information from the medical record to identify and solve medication-related problems, contacting providers as appropriate.
    3. Processes and dispenses prescriptions.
      1. Receives, reviews, interprets, prepares, and verifies medication orders for appropriateness.
      2. Ensures the accurate adjudication of claims. Follows-up with insurance companies as well as medical providers and participates in 3rd party audit.
      3. Prepares and/or verifies sterile and nonsterile compounds.
      4. Supervises pharmacy technicians and interns in all aspects of medication distribution.
      5. Complies with all applicable Joint Commission standards, Federal, State pharmacy rules and regulations related to dispensing, controlled substances, etc.
    4. Resolves patient's issue(s) in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
    5. Maintains a high level of clinical knowledge of HIV and STI in adult and geriatric patient populations to serve as an authoritative information source on drugs and their utilization in therapy.
    6. Interacts with and makes patient-centered recommendations to other clinical staff regarding medication therapy ordered to ensure safe and effective care. Documents recommendations and interventions.
    7. Provides drug information in verbal or written format.
    8. Assists in formulary management including therapeutic substitutions, nonformulary reviews and medication usage evaluations.
    9. Assesses adverse drug reactions and provides recommendations for prevention and management.
    10. Knows and follows safety and infection control procedures. Leads quality improvement activities.
    11. Supports the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assists pharmacy leadership in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management and enhance the customer experience.
    12. Leads staff meetings, staff development opportunities and interdepartmental work groups
    13. Performs other duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
    Position Requirements:
    • Education and/or Experience: Required: BS Pharmacy degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College of Pharmacy; PharmD strongly preferred. One to three years of experience in 340B program preferred.
    • Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacist with the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy
    • Continuing education: Meet continuing education requirements as noted by the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy Division
    • Certifications (i.e. CPR): Certified Immunizer required. Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. AAHIV and Apexus 340B certification preferred.
    • Able to lift light loads and has good eye-hand coordination.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to both patients and health care staff in a polite and professional manner.
    • Expertise in 340B program compliance, revenue cycle management, and pharmacy operations management.
    • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security.
    • Skill in using Microsoft Office applications.
    • Skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies, including symptom assessment and interpretation of laboratory and other diagnostic parameters.
    • Skill in critical thinking and analytical problem solving with a high attention to detail.
    • Skill in supervising technicians
