    The Role Develops, analyzes, researches, and designs welding techniques, procedures, and applications
    Uses engineering principles to manipulate materials for fabrication and assembly processes
    Prepares technical documentation in order to implement waterfront welding processes including specifications, analyses, standards, and restrictions
    Creates new or modifies current welding methods, techniques, and procedures in order to substantiate welding theories
    Must Have Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
    Nice to Have


    • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering or Materials Science Engineering
    • Experience with NAVSEA, ASME, and AWS specifications
    • Experience with welding operations and processes
    • Ability to navigate engineering drawings and technical documents
    • Good technical writing ability
