- An extremely high responsibility is required in the performance of Ultrasound and the operation of the Ultrasound Section.
- Performs a variety of ultrasound procedures not requiring constant supervision.
- Maintains appropriate records and statistics, and maintains sufficient stock of supplies for the entire Ultrasound Section.
- Evaluates and recommends a new or revised Ultrasound policies, procedures, protocols, etc.
- Instructs and assists students in clinical procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned by Lead Sonographer, Clinical Supervisor or Manager.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Documents care consistent with documentation guidelines.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
- Participates in department operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of the department and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
- Participation in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, quality assurance activities, department meetings, and other related activities.
- Demonstrates positive customer relations skills.
- Provides a variety of services related to patient transportation and daily department cleaning.
- Provides environmental duties as assigned.
- Exhibits knowledge and skills in the operation of Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) ,Radiology Information System (RIS), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Assists in scheduling of patient exams by assuring correct physician order and insurance pre-authorization number.
- Adheres to departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound program
- Accreditation from American Registry Diagnostic Medical (ARDMS) Sonographer
- Previous experience is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Organizational and time management skills. Basic computer skills.
- Life Support (CPR) certification, ARDMS in Abdomen and OB/GYN and/or in the process of attaining these credentials.
- Must attain within 24 months of hire date.
