    Description

    We are seeking a highly qualified individual with Microsoft SQL Server experience with programming background. The selected candidate will primarily work on Billing applications to do deep dive analysis of slow performing Queries, Stored Procedures and perform other tuning activities in SQL server database systems. The candidate will work with the Scrum teams & DBA's to implement suggested changes for improvement. The candidate must have an excellent technical, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills backed with good verbal and written communication skills.


    Responsibilities:

    • Writing and reviewing stored procedures, reviewing and monitoring database performance and ensure data entity and schema design follows best practices and standards. Converting logic to and from SQL server to application depending upon performance analysis.
    • Respond to database related alerts and escalations and work to come up with strategic solutions to various problems
    • Helping educate developers on the finer points of database development
    • Work with development teams to design new areas of the application and refactor old
    • Document and maintain application requirements and technical specifications


    Qualifications:

    • Deep theoretical database knowledge
    • Fully proficient level skills in SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
    • Expert knowledge in creating complex SQL queries, performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
    • Expert knowledge of indexes, index management and statistics
    • Hands-on experience with one of the programming languages, .NET/C# preferred.
    • Knowledge of the Microsoft development platform
    • Knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, performance issues, connectivity issues, and security issues
    • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related I/O, memory, disk space, CPU, and other resource issues
    • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal


    Experience:

    • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL server performance tuning experience
    • Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodology
    • Four years of experience in the complete software development life cycle.
    • Four years of experience in user interface, web service, and/or database development.
    • Four years of experience effective maintainable unit tests.


    Additional Qualifications:

    • Full stack .NET software development, with core competencies in Visual Studio, TFS, C#, SQL Server, WCF, ASP.NET, Web API, LINQ, SOAP, and REST
    • Microsoft .NET tools and technologies, especially: ASP.NET (MSC & Web API), WCF Web Services
    • Experience using GIT
    • Familiarity with SQL Database design
    • Experience with Entity Framework
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and contribute towards team efforts
    • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong critical thinking, decision making, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Ability and desire to learn new skills and techniques
    • Passion to innovate and provide high quality software for insurance applications
    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences
