    Summary:


    The coordinator will act as a liaison for Catholic Charities, refugee youth and the mentors, and will assist in coordinating activities between all parties.

    The Program Coordinator will assist in recruiting and training potential mentors being matched with refugee youth between the ages of 15-24 years They will ensure quality assurance of the program and assist staff in pairing mentors that are matched with a youth to achieve acculturation into their new life in San Antonio, and support staff working with clients on their path to education and career independence and self-sufficiency, including case mgt.

    services, focusing on Education and Career advancement & opportunities.

    Host trainings for community partners and keep documentation of all services exchanged between mentors and the youth and services provided and clients information.

    Will also be responsible for the completion and submission of program reporting.


    Position Responsibilities:
    *Able to work with refugee youth, ages of 15-24, to provide Education and Career case management assistance.
    *Help youth who may or may not be in school and seeking employment opportunities. Connecting youth to employment resources and following up.
    *Provides academic support to students needing guidance in school, such as: tutoring, setting up parent/teacher meetings, assist with college applications, enrolling youth in vocational/GED programs, applying for student financial aid, enrolling in online classes, and or other school related services.
    *Create spreadsheets and other tracking tools to keep organized and to document all delivered services to youth and mentors. Able to input, and retrieve data from and external online Refugee Database, to keep track of all client information and program goals.
    *Initiates case file creation for all clients enrolled and monitors files to ensure they are maintained throughout clients' tenures in the program.
    *Takes the lead in the completion and submission of required program reporting for Youth Mentoring. Collects data for quarterly reports and recaps program services, accomplishments and challenges for narrative reports on a semi-annual basis. Able to report out client services on a monthly basis.
    *Assist the Mentoring-Program Specialist, to process submitted mentor/volunteer applications, completed & cleared criminal background checks. Ensure mentor & program volunteer hours are entered timely in the volunteer database, Give Pulse and ensure all hours are documented and accounted for on a monthly basis.
    Flexibility of work schedule may be asked to work some weekends and evenings for social engagement activities, and trainings. Notice will be given ahead of time.

    Communicate with mentors and youth and their guardians if minors, to stay informed of their experience and completion of their service plan.

    Assist in the recruitment of potential mentors to be assigned a youth by visiting colleges, universities and other public grounds and present information on behalf of the program.

    Collect feedback from clients about their experience, by generating and distributing surveys.
    Other duties as assigned by the Director of Refugee Employment & Youth Mentoring.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in

    social service

    or business-related field

    Or Experience:

    Minimum of (2) years working within a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations.

    License and Credentials

    Have reliable transportation.
    Valid driver license
    Clean driving record
    Valid vehicle insurance
    Ability to operate an agency 12 passenger van on an as needed basis for program activities and events.

    Must be 21 years of age and adhere to the CCAOSA policy, which will not allow anyone under the age of 21 to operate an agency vehicle.


    Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
    Minimum of

    2

    years' experience in

    working in a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred.
    Experience with personal computer, various computer software, email and Microsoft Works, specifically Excel.
    Must be detailed oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
    Must have good written and verbal skills.
    Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to maintain appropriate ethical boundaries and professional client relationship.
