Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA)The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Accountant. This individual will be responsible for providing operational support for GHSA's financial, operational, and accounting activities.
The Senior Staff Accountant interacts with all organizational levels, internal and external to GHSA, and collaborates with GHSA's leadership team to ensure business success and execution of GHSA's Mission and Vision.
This position is responsible for:
Coordinating accounting functions and programs
Preparing financial analyses and reports
Preparing revenue projects and forecasting expenditures
Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets
Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts
Managing accounts payable and accounts receivables
Managing Payroll
Private and Federal grant processing and reporting
Assisting with month end close
Assisting with annual audit preparations
Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
Ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and special tax returns and licenses
Contributing to the development and documentation of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
Serving as a liaison to GHSA States financial offices, vendors, and contracts
Supporting the administration of GHSA benefits and HR processes including new hire onboarding and offboarding, open enrollment, and updates to employee benefits
Performing other accounting duties as required or assigned
Other duties as assigned aligned with the objectives of GHSA
Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree (Finance degree is desirable) and 5+ years of appliable finance experience. Experience with Naylor, , Intacct, Concur, and ADP Payroll system is desirable. Experience working in a nonprofit or an association is desirable. The position requires less than 5% travel.

We represent the state and territorial highway safety offices that implement programs to address behavioral highway safety issues, including impaired and distracted driving, speeding, seat belt use and pedestrian safety.

GHSA currently provides a hybrid work environment (two telecommuting days per week + three days in the GHSA office, following a 45-day introductory period).
