    Responsibilities

    GENERAL PURPOSE:
    Provides implementation and operational support for organizational networks, including departmental LAN/WAN, backbone/data center infrastructures and network related services.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Implements network and telephony solutions using timelines showing phasing, interdependencies and resource requirements.
    Produces itemized project cost estimates, including labor and materials when needed, under the guidance of more senior network engineers. Completes work orders, providing guidance for subcontractors when applicable. Produces bills-of-material as requested by construction activities.

    Performs network troubleshooting to identify root cause for any business impacting events, escalating when appropriate and collaborating with other team members as needed.

    Documents network cable plant and maintains an inventory of network components throughout entire network infrastructure. Provides on-call coverage to service network interruptions following the direction received from senior team members, escalating when appropriate.
    Participates in department and user initiated quality improvement projects. Attends technical classes or seminars and reads technical journals appropriate to maintaining skill proficiency.
    Monitors network capacity and maximizes network availability, using network management tools.
    Documents and implements standards for all network components. Assists in the development of policies and procedures, ensuring that documentation is kept current and complete.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School Diploma or GED required
    Bachelor's degree preferred
    3 years of related experience required
    or equivalent combination of education and experience required
    Experience working with large enterprise-wide LAN/WAN environments in a University or Hospital setting preferred
    Familiarity with network electronics, including optical networking concepts, routers, switches, etc. required
    Familiarity with network management tools, such as Intermapper, Netdisco, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, etc. required
    Familiarity with Ethernet concepts and network routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP required
    Familiarity with structured cable plant components and techniques for both fiber and copper required
    Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required
    Strong oral and written communication skills required
    Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and addressing required
    Cisco CCNA preferred

    Pay Range

    Pay Range:
    $68,765 - $103,147 Annually
    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.

    Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
