The purpose of the Purchasing Manager is to manage and direct all Purchasing team members in the execution of their purchasing responsibilities including identifying and acquiring goods, materials, and components for the Stuppy organization.
Essential Functions
Lead, direct and supervise the activity of the purchasing team and purchasing
department/operation
Develop and mentor team to ensure overall purchasing success and growth of team members
Understands, supports, and implements company strategy as directed by the CFO and CEO
Collaborates with sales, accounting, production, client services and other internal departments on all order and purchasing activity to ensure coordination and timeliness of outcomes
Develop and executes sourcing strategies evaluating and ensuring vendors and respective goods, materials and components to meet Stuppy standards
Select vendors and alternate vendors that meet the company's specifications acquiring the best price and delivery terms possible
Negotiates contracts and service agreements with suppliers
Evaluates source and supplier performance against metrics such as delivery deadlines, accuracy, quality, price, cost, among other things
Control inventories and replenishment of goods, materials and components
Gathers good and material data and maintains requirements and product specifications for all purchased items
Uses Stuppy purchasing systems in the execution of buys, replenishment, tracking, etc.
Coordinate and communicate with other stakeholders such as accounting, production, accounting, etc., the flow of inventory into and out of the production process
Resolve vendor errors and execute change orders as necessary to ensure product schedules are met in a timely manner
Provide input to the budgeting process and in support of cost containment initiatives and priorities
All other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
5+ Years' experience working in Procurement or Purchasing
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
Proven ability and desire to build a collaborative, effective and productive team
Accountability driven with an appreciation of the use of metrics and objective performance standards, creating and executing processes with maximum effectiveness
Ability to make decisions predicated on substantive and objective data and other relevant paradigms as well as
Proven success working in a deadline driven environment, executing numerous responsibilities at a time with addressing frequent interruptions and priority changes
Demonstrated financial acumen and with a strong financial analytical background
Ability to recognize improvement opportunities for improvement and possessing the knowledge necessary to execute substantive and productive changes.
Extreme detail orientation and advanced problem analysis skills
Excellent communication skills, via phone, email, and in writing
Advance skills with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook and knowledge of Epicor a plus; familiarity with internal or proprietary systems.
