    Job Description SummaryJoin our Team as a Per Diem Cardiac Echo Technologist at South Shore HealthAre you an experienced Cardiac Echo Technologist seeking schedule flexibility?- Flexible Per Diem Shifts: Work during our operational hours - Sunday through Saturday 6AM-7PM- Advanced Technology: Perform high-quality echocardiograms using premium equipment, including Philips EPIQ 7 ultrasound systems

    Job DescriptionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Performs complete study including M-MODE, REAL TIME, COLOR FLOW MAPPING and DOPPLER.a - Acquires all necessary images and measurements according to lab protocols

    b - Interprets all techniques giving internal dimensions, wall motion and flow pattern analysis.

    c - Quantitative abnormal valve areas calculating gradients.- Obtains permanent records of examination.

    a - Looks up patient information and previous echo exams in the patient's electronic medical records system


    b - Completes exam documentation and billing info in the patient's electronic medical records- Contributes professional knowledge to final diagnostic impression or report.

    a - Writes preliminary interpretation for physician review.

    b - Informs physician during reading session of any non-conventional views taken.- Stores daily examinations performed.


    a - Ensures that all studies download correctly to GE server.- Technology – Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices.


    a - Able to utilize GE reading station including burning CD, downloading casesb - Able to utilize Epic (Electronic medical records)c - Able to utilize the electronic method of calling down inpatients in a timely and efficient manner.- Safety Awareness – Fosters a "Culture of Safety" through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.

    a - Practices MD notification of "red values" as described in policy.

    JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationAt least a (2) two year Echocardiography accredited program including technical and clinical training culminating in an associate degree or higher.

    Minimum Work ExperienceAt least (1) one to (2) two years experience preferredRequired CertificationsRDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)) orRCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)Required Classes/SkillsBLS - Basic Life SupportRequired additional Knowledge and AbilitiesAbility to demonstrate competency in echocardiography.

    Must be able to recognize abnormal structure and be able to correlate this information into a useful study.
    Must be able to deviate from normal techniques, when necessary, to develop new techniques.
