    Job Summary:
    The House Supervisor directly supports the Senior Executive Team and provides oversight for multiple hospital departments in the absence of unit management. Networks with the Delegate on-call and addresses patient care, staffing, and any other issues that may arise. Supervises nurses and staff and takes administrative responsibilities. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish responsibilities. Creativity is expected to perform the job. Leads and directs the work of others.


    Requirements:


    Minimum of 3 years acute care experience and 1 year charge/supervisory nurse experience
    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing (ASD)
    Proficient in the English language, verbal and written communication skills, computer skill. Proficient IV Therapy skills. Critical
    Current State RN license. Current BLS certification. ACLS within 6 months.


    Responsibilities


    • Leadership and Supervision
    a. Assigns and monitors staff work and work schedules according to department policy
    b. Maintains appropriate data on employee attendance for payroll/ATM
    c. Maintains appropriate data on employee performance for counseling and performance review
    d. Address any behavioral issues timely and effectively
    e. Demonstrates ability to coach and mentor staff
    f. Serves as a clinical resource for staff
    g. Coordinates and communicates critical information related to risk issues, guest service issues or other need to know information with administration, risk management, medical management, medical staff, and patient advocates
    h. Responsible for daily staffing verification to assure appropriate number, skill mix and competency
    i. Effectively responds to administrative issues and notifies administrator on call as appropriate
    j. Networks with physicians to facilitate patient care services.
    k. Directly represents and supports the Chief Nursing Officer in the delivery of patient care services after hours.


    • Patient Throughput Management
    a. Manages patient admissions/transfers/discharges in a timely manner.
    b. Triages incoming calls from external sites and manages patient placement appropriately.
    c. Receives requests for transfers from other facilities, coordinates transfer and initiates transport team if necessary.
    d. Coordinates bed assignments for inpatients, outpatients, pre/post operative surgical patients. Monitors patient levels of care for appropriateness and facilitates changes with appropriate provider as necessary.
    e. Facilitates as appropriate the scheduling of surgical and specialty procedures and timely notification of appropriate teams as necessary


    • Clinical Practice and Care Management
    a.

    Responds effectively and efficiently to the needs of the nursing team for treatments, procedures and equipment such as but not limited to:

    • Code Blue Event Management
    • Rapid response team calls, disaster situations
    • IV Therapy Assistance *Minimum and Moderate Sedation Analgesia
    b. Provides clinical practice and care management RN job standards as needed.


    • Communication and Collaboration
    a. Consistently communicates/collaborates with the health care team members, patients and families to maximize patient outcomes.

    Appropriately delegates patient care activities to other health care team members and participates in making and revising staff assignments to achieve maximum productivity.



    • Quality
    a. Participates in quality improvement initiatives by utilizing standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
    b. Incorporates evidence based practice and research findings into nursing practice to enhance outcomes. 10%

    • Professional Development
    a. Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to health care team members; displays leadership behaviors.
    b. Identifies own learning needs based on self-evaluation and the progress made from the previous year's goals.
