    *This role will require you to commute to the Boston location 1 to 2 times per month.

    Job Summary:An excellent opportunity for a leadership role on the Boston Children's Hospital Financial Reporting team This manager is responsible for driving the operational and technical activities related to the Financial Reporting function, staff oversight, internal management reporting activities, audits, and, support related to financial reporting functions.     This Financial Reporting Manager – Operations will be responsible to:

  • Coordinate all deliverables associated with the monthly close process for the Hospital, including journal entry processing and variance analysis, collaborate with operating depts, and other Finance depts (Budget, Payroll, Reimbursement, Patient Financial Services, Pricing/Contracting, etc.)
  • Lead internal reporting requirements, including the distribution of the monthly financial management narrative, and other PowerPoint presentations for the Hospital, including Board meetings; i.e. Finance Committee
  • Lead and coordinate all deliverables associated with the year-end audit process, providing oversight for all handoffs amongst Finance stakeholder groups, including collaboration with affiliate partners (Physicians' Organization (PO), Boston Children's Health Physicians (BCHP)), provide day to day leadership with the external audit firm
  • Coordinate all deliverables associated with the Children's Medical Center Corporation (CMCC) consolidation. Manage initiatives with respect to business process and technology reengineering associated with the consolidation, including footnote and elimination compilation, collaborating with affiliate partners, including the PO, and BCHP
  • Identify and remediate risks in the internal control infrastructure, collaborating with the internal audit firm
  • Evaluate, document, and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures pertinent to BCH
  • Participate in and support deliverables associated with the annual budget process, facilitate and document budget assumptions for but not limited to pension, depreciation, capitalized interest, etc., provide insight into actual trends to inform forecasting analytics
  • Provide oversight for the capital accounting and reporting for BCH, with immediate priorities focused on, but not limited to the following: mitigate accounting risk associated with the CIP close process and other monthly closing activities, evaluate business and technology (including enhanced integration between the PeopleSoft modules: P2P, Project Costing, General Ledger and the Hyperion modules)
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of financial analysts and review their work for quality, and provides guidance
  • To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field and 7+ years of previous experience in financial reporting, auditing and/or accounting is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • CPA certification recommended
  • Strong technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, advanced Excel, and advanced database skills
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, developing timelines for implementation, identifying resource needs and potential impacts, and managing their progress
  • This is a hybrid/remote role
