- · Serve as department lead and supervisor for the Design Department.
- · Proactively plan and execute work with increasing levels of engineering responsibility, often serving as Engineer or Record and Project Manager. Serve as engineer in responsible charge of design & structural engineering projects.
- · Design the structural systems of buildings regardless of constructed materials.
- · Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work around obstructions and constraints.
- · Organizes designs and details to produce a complete set of drawings.
- · Researches and writes reports/opinions, including due diligence investigations and code studies.
- · Produce engineering reports utilizing the format(s) of Grindley Williams Engineering.
- · Manages existing client relationships while contributing to new client business development efforts.
- · Provide quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) review and internal peer review of engineering reports, plans, etc.

The Structural Professional Engineer Team Lead will oversee the Design Team of Grindley Williams Engineering in Lakeland, Florida. The Team Lead enhances the effectiveness of the Design Department by employing innovative thinking, sound concepts and designs in engineering and consulting services to a broad array of projects and clients. This position will assist with comprehensive residential, commercial, educational, institutional, and industrial structural design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Engineering is required; MS preferred. All degrees must be from a appropriately accredited university and an ABET accredited college/school. Must have Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida with a minimum of five years of structural design experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, AutoDesk software, and structural analysis software such as RISA.
