The position of a
High School Associate Principal
will be available at
East Central ISD
for the

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Direct and manage assigned areas instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist the school principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and campus-level operations; coordinate assigned student activities and services.
Manage the use of school facilities and supervise maintenance of these facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly campus.
Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
Conduct conferences about school issues with parents, students, and staff.Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior; serve as a role model for all campus staff.
Promote the mission and vision of the school.
Provide instructional leadership.
Communicate and promote high expectations for staff and student performance.
Assist with the supervision of specific departments' initiatives.
Assist in the professional development of staff.
Supervise students on campus, before school and after school, and at lunch.
Assume responsibility for specific job functions as assigned by the campus principal.
Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
Communicate effectively with students and staff.
Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
Serve as campus liaison with law enforcement agencies.
Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
Supervise operations in the principal's absence.
Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigations.
Work with the department head/lead teachers and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
Coordinate DAEP placements with student services.
Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
Adhere to the district safety policies and procedures.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific worksite assigned (classroom or office setting).Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal; supervise Assistant Principals, teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and clerical personnel, and others as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.NOTE:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's degreeTexas Principal's certificate or the other appropriate Texas certificateCertified Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiserSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Prior teaching and administrative experience (preferred high school level)Strong communication skills, both oral and writtenEast Central experience preferred
