    Coeur Mining, Inc. is a well-diversified growing precious metals producer with five operations in North America.     Coeur Alaska, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining, is seeking an Environmental Technician for its Kensington Mine. The Kensington underground gold mine and associated milling facilities are located within the Berners Bay Mining District on the east side of Lynn Canal about 45 miles north-northwest of Juneau, Alaska.

    Responsibilities:
  • Performs soil, groundwater, surface water, waste, sediment and air sampling
  • Performs employee environmental awareness training as needed
  • Collect, review and analyze environmental data
  • Input data into an environmental database
  • Uses field instruments and equipment as necessary to meet health and safety as well as field sampling and O&M requirements
  • Assist with preparation of routine submittals to regulatory agencies to document system performance and compliance with permit requirements
  • Documents all field activities and notes
  • Performs subcontractor oversight
  • Communicates effectively with project managers and client personnel
  • Has a high degree of health and safety awareness
  • Works within defined scopes, schedules and budgets while producing quality work
  • Maintains knowledge of sampling procedures and protocols in accordance with recognized industry standards

    Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • Ability to work safe and promote safe behavior in others
  • High School Diploma or GED required Associates or Bachelor's Degree in environmental Sciences or applied sciences preferred
  • Approximately 1-3 years of environmental field experience in an industrial setting preferred
  • Employees may be frequently exposed to surface and underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud. This position may require work on nights, weekends and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.
  • Possess good computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications, e-mail, etc.)
  • Possess strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible.
  • Ability to work independently and to accept responsibility, ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Able to work in a remote outdoor environment, often in inclement weather
  • Periodically work in an underground mine setting
  • Able to hike several miles over uneven ground
  • Work occasional weekends as scheduled
  • Sets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountability
  • Preference given to Alaskan residents.
