    The City of Virginia Beach is recruiting for a Business Application Specialist I to join the Director's Office division of the Planning & Community Development department. The BAS will support one or more divisions within the Planning Department.

    Specific duties/responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Provide support for the Planning department applications.
    • Troubleshoot and triage department software/hardware requests.
    • Analyze and document department divisions' business processes; Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and productivity.
    • Maintain division's inventory of hardware; Configure and deploy mobile hardware (MiFI, Cellphones,Tablets) used by field staff.
    • Works in coordination with the department/requestor to generate reports related to FOIA requests
    • Create/Update custom reports (Ad-hoc and/or SQL)
    • Liaison with IT Department to resolve software and/or hardware issues.
    • Conduct meetings or make presentations to communicate information as requested or needed.
    • Assists in department level business application support for the Accela application, including user support and training for approximately 135 users.
    • Assist in software upgrades, including testing, training, and troubleshooting. Assist in developing training materials and assist in end-user training.
    • Review software code and/or data for discrepancies.
