    Highline Public Schools is seeking a Director of Transportation to join our Central Office Leadership Team beginning this July The Director of Transportation works under the direction of the Associate Superintendent in support of the department's commitment to transport students safely and efficiently inside and outside Highline School District boundaries.

    As the Director of Transportation, this position is designed to establish and develop operational systems and solutions for safe and effective operations.


    The ideal candidate has knowledge of state and federal school transportation laws and a strong understanding of the rules and regulations governing budgeting including McKinney-Vento and foster programs.

    Additionally, they have experience in labor relations and collective bargaining compliance.

    The successful candidate has strong communication skills and demonstrates ability to build successful working relationships with staff, parents, and students, supporting a linguistically and ethnically diverse community.

    They directly supervise and evaluate staff and are committed to building a strong workplace culture of belonging as they lead recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce in alignment with the beliefs and policies of the district.

    . HR minimum qualification screening and district phone screening will take place on a rolling basis through May 10th, followed by site-base screening. Interviews will be conducted in person and are tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 17th, with the possibility of finalist interviews.


    POSITION SUMMARY:


    The Director of Transportation provides leadership, guidance, and oversight in support of the department's commitment to transport students safely and efficiently inside and outside Highline School District boundaries.

    The primary scope of this work includes vision and effective management, developing operational systems and solutions for safe and effective operations, and fiscal stewardship in alignment with district strategies.

    In addition, this role is responsible for cultivating excellent communication between the department and community, managing dynamic relationships with key stakeholders, rules and regulations governing budgeting including McKinney-Vento and foster programs, and leadership in the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and


    EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor's Degree

    or

    Central Washington University Pupil Transportation Management Training Certification

    or

    willingness to obtain one

    Four years of experience in the transportation field in an organization having full vehicle maintenance and operation facilities

    Six years of management or supervisory experience with increasing responsibility and training or education
