    Description
    We are seeking a highly motivated

    Purchasing Manager


    to lead our Purchasing Team at Thermon's Precision Boilers and Vapor Power manufacturing plants located in Morristown, TN and Franklin Park, IL.

    You will lead the purchasing of products and services, manage supplier relationships, act as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, ensure on time delivery of products, and negotiate with suppliers for favorable price, quality, delivery, and payment terms.

    A combination of strong business acumen and leadership skills within an industrial manufacturing business environment along with the ability to foster long-term internal and external partnership relationships are imperatives for the success of this role.


    Responsibilities:

    Strategic Procurement:
    Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, distributing and maintaining goods and or services.


    Team Leadership:
    Lead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals. Partner with Talent Acquisition team in any recruitment efforts.


    Supplier Management:
    Develop, qualify, and maintain suppliers to deliver products and services according to engineering and quality specifications. Collaborate with Global Strategic Sourcing for supplier development and qualifications. Lead supplier performance assessments, monitoring, and timely corrective actions.


    Cost Optimization:
    Optimize total landed cost and minimize supply disruptions. Analyze supplier capabilities, capacity, compliance, risks, etc. to ensure production continuity.


    Order Management:
    Issue Purchase Orders and ensure on time delivery of products and or services. Monitor and resolve supplier payment issues.


    Reporting:
    Create and distribute reports pertaining to planned orders, released demands, shortages, schedule changes, inventory, and supplier payments


    Trend Monitoring:
    Monitor business trends and product availability to optimize total landed cost without sacrificing quality or delivery times.


    Continuous Improvement:
    Promote Purchasing continuous improvement projects for lead time reduction, cost reduction, and process compliance internally and with suppliers.


    Policy Development:
    Regularly review and remain current on Operating Procedures, Quality Procedures, Manufacturing Procedures and Engineering requirements. Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and instructions.

    Cross-functional Collaboration:

    Work closely with Manufacturing Operations and Management, Engineering, and Quality organizations to execute various supplier development projects.


    Stakeholder Liaison:
    Act as a key liaison for internal stakeholders and suppliers.


    Inventory Management:
    Deploy pull systems with Thermon's top 25 suppliers, aligning with Thermon's site and global total inventory turn objectives.

    Strong Supply Chain leader with additional knowledge in other areas such as manufacturing, engineering, R&D, business, and market development.

    Ability to partner effectively with a senior leadership team and functional leaders in a matrixed environment.

    Strong negotiation skills.

    Qualifications:
    Minimum ten (10) years of hands-on experience in Purchasing for large industrial manufacturing companies.

    Minimum five (5) years of successful team leadership experience. Demonstrated skills in negotiations and relationship building. Expertise in managing large and complex projects.

    Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, or Business Administration; Master's degree (MBA or Engineering) preferred.

    Procurement certifications preferred (CPSM, CSCP, etc.)
