    Description

    A CNC Master Machinist uses sketches and/or computer-aided design and manufacturing files to produce precision parts with accuracy from raw material steel. Must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Tooling/Die Maintenance. Possess excellent math skills. Must be able to utilize computer programs to assist in troubleshooting die maintenance problems.

    Responsibilities

    • Able to operate computer-controlled machinery in the manufacturing industry.
    • Able to use computer-aided machinery to cut, assemble, or fabricate metal parts or products.
    • A master machinist can set up their machines using CNC technology to automate the cutting and fabrication process.
    • Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
    • Selects the appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used on machines.
    • Examines and measures completed units and parts to identify any defects and to ensure units conform with predetermined specifications; adjusts machine controls to resolve production errors.
    • Inspects machinery for any needed repairs; performs minor repairs within expertise.
    • Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area.
    • Complies with applicable safety standards and regulations.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Knowledge of auto parts manufacturing, metal stamping i.e. Transfer, Progressive, and Tandem Presses ranging from tons.
    • Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate proficiency with radial arm drill press, lathe, bridge port, milling machine, various surface grinders, band saw, cut-off saw, Wire EDM & Sinker, OD grinder and various other machines normally associated with the day-to-day operation(s) of the die maintenance department.
    • Candidate must be able to understand advanced mechanics of dies associated with blank, progressive, tandem, and/or secondary press operations. Candidate must also possess an in-depth knowledge of tool steels and their applications.
    • The primary portion of work is in factory, ventilated, heated, and air-conditioned facility.
    • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
    • Position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, bending, handling, and/or use of tactile information.
    • Work in conjunction with Quality and Engineering on continuous improvement.
    • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment. Reports on any process and equipment problems.
    • Maintains a Can Do Attitude along with excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Countermeasure solutions in relation to dies/tooling/fixture for quality related and operational issues.
    • Maintaining of die maintenance spare parts

    Qualifications/Desired Skills & Knowledge

    Complete working knowledge of plant operations specializing in the Tool and Die Maintenance Department with an emphasis on CNC Machining with 3D CAD Design.

    • Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
    • Ability to read blueprints and plans.
    • Excellent mechanical skills.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • AutoCAD, CATIA, Works NC, Bobwire (CAD programs), FARO Arm
    • General shop knowledge - drill press, lathe, milling machine, grinder, CNC, wire EDM machine, sinker EDM
