    Description

    There will be an
    Assistant Director, Transportation position(s) available within the Olentangy Local School District for the school year, effective July 8, 2024.

    The Assistant Director, Transportation will assist in overseeing the Department of Transportation including operations of the transportation centers, trip management, routing, and fleet maintenance.

    Assist in preparing analytical reports including performance indicators, budgeting, and grant writing.

    To provide the leadership to secure, maintain and improve the transportation operation assuring safe, efficient, and convenient transportation for eligible students.


    Qualifications for the position include:

    Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years management experience; valid Ohio driver's license and commercial driver's license with school bus endorsement preferred; a minimum of five (5) years experience in transportation and/or school administration; ability to supervise and manage a large and complex PreK-12 transportation operation; and ability to problem solve and become proficient in Ohio transportation rules and regulations.

    Alternative to the above qualifications as the superintendent and/or board of education may find appropriate.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    ability to work effectively with others; ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; effective, active listening skills; excellent public relations skills; strong leadership skills; demonstrated technical and logistical skills; excellent geographical and mapping knowledge; ability and skill to operate various computer programs include Microsoft office software; organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to drive a school bus and obtain required certifications; understanding and patient with staff, parents and students; demonstrated knowledge of budget management; and ability to effectively supervise and manage administrative personnel.
