    Overview



    This position will be a key partner to the Controller. This position will be focused on coordinating the Company's Federal, States and Local taxes with an emphasis on income tax accounting and compliance reports. The Tax Manager will work closely with the third party tax consultants. The Tax Manager will also help to standardize tax and compliance processes to ensure appropriate and timely filing with taxing authorities, including income taxes, sales taxes, personal property taxes and compliance reporting with DMHC and DOI.



    Responsibilities

    • Review the Company's federal and state income taxes provision prepared by third party consultant.
    • Participating in all federal/states tax accounting processes, including calculations of permanent/temporary differences, deferred assets/liabilities, valuation allowances, return-to-provision adjustments, and tax journal entries.
    • Develop a process to prepare the Company's federal and state income taxes and provisions.
    • Managing all federal income tax audits and supporting state tax audits as needed
    • Coordinating tax projects as needed and/or supervising external consultants.
    • Providing general tax support to other corporate and business groups
    • Assist with monitoring current and proposed tax law changes to identify and assess the impact on the Company.
    • Manage all tax related compliance processes including income taxes, sales/use taxes, personal property taxes.
    • Manage compliance reporting with Department of Manage Health Care (DMHC) and Department of Insurance (DOI)



    Qualifications

    • BS or MS in Accounting
    • 7+ years tax accounting experience, of which 3+ years management experience
    • 3+ years of public accounting experience
    • Solid, working understanding of federal income tax laws, corporate consolidation, and tax accounting
    • Strong functional and technical tax skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as function well with independent responsibilities
    • Ability to effectively manage external contractors and service providers
    • Healthcare/DSO experience (preferred)
    • JD Edwards experience (preferred)
    • CPA/auditing experiences (preferred)
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Expert-level skills with Microsoft Excel (preferred)
    • A quality approach to work, with an appreciation for procedures and controls
    • A data-driven approach to problem-solving, giving the ability to provide practical and efficient solutions
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
