    Kamehameha Schools is hiring for a strategic and innovative Community Strategist to work in tandem with the community groups on Maui.

    We are looking for an independent leader, that is able to make data-informed decision, who understands the communities they will serve in order to best meet their needs.

    This position will work closely with other Community Strategists, Project Managers, Internal groups at KS and external community partners to help serve within education and/or social services.

    This is a Regular, Full-time position eligible for all benefits listed on the KS Careers Website. Starting salary at $124-126K, dependent on applicable experience and expertise.

    and change management purposes. Leads the implementation

    community engagement activities

    in support of the organization's strategic goals and objectives.

    Provides KS community intelligence to inform and influence KS' portfolios of community investments.
    Essential Responsibilities

    Community Relations and Communications
    Cultivate strong knowledge of the Native Hawaiian experience in the assigned community
    Responsible for building relationships within the community; attending public meetings and other community activities as a key KS representative.
    Listen and act in response to community conversations in order to create positive, authentic relationships between KS and the NH community
    Collaborates with KS groups to create synergies in plans, investments, and programs within assigned community and across communities.
    Actively engages KS leadership on a broad range of issues and positions related to KS' presence and activities in the community
    Develops and manages communications plans for key issues or projects (messaging, synopsis/status reports, issues and risks).

    Serve as the primary point of contact for internal/external leadership, project sponsors and contracted vendors and/or consultants for KS activities for the community.

    Community Engagement

    Leads the execution and reporting of strategically aligned, community related projects and services in alignment with a comprehensive community portfolio.

    Provides best practices and tactical advice about approaches and networks in the community

    Provide best practice consultancy with KS units to infuse community needs in strategic decisions, policy stances and investments in the community.

    Facilitates business processes, including gap analysis and developing, mapping, maintaining, and updating related documentation, coordinating cross function discussions of KS in the community with other KS-wide support units.

    Project Portfolio Leadership

    Facilitate and coordinate the efforts of senior leadership toward the establishment of the project portfolio and strategic alignment of projects and investments to portfolio categories and criteria, through evaluation, selection and prioritization; to execution, tracking and measuring the achieved results.

    Ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the projects in the portfolio, and resolve or escalate conflicts.
    Support and advice executives on actions required to balance the portfolio of existing assets and services.

    Lead reviews of any significant initiatives, projects or programs that are challenged and provide recommendations as to whether it should continue, be significantly changed, placed on hold or discontinued.

    Direct the creation and maintenance of the required project portfolio documentation and artifacts.

    Work with project teams to manage/oversee the full range of the project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, close) for projects covering a portfolio of projects which focus on the business needs of a specific business line(s) or strategy.

    As resourced by leadership, ensure and balance the availability of the required skills and competencies across project and program teams within the project portfolio.

    Planning and Strategy

    Supports short- and long-range system-wide educational planning efforts via facilitation of discussion, data, and statistical analysis, and/or operational program analyses.

    Works closely with the land asset management and commercial real estate divisions to ensure alignment of KS' land assets portfolio to community dynamics, KS' educational portfolio and strategic goals.

    Coordinates with KS divisions and other statewide functional units as applicable to ensure alignment and consistency of educational initiatives and services across all KS functions and actions within the community.

    Position Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications -

    An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
    Master's Degree in Education, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
    Minimum of 5 years director or manager experience.
    Excellent, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
    Ability to direct, guide and facilitate long and short range strategic planning across a cross-functional organization.

    Able to relate with all levels of management, faculty, staff, external agencies, alumni, students, parents, and other school staff and other community stakeholders.

    Strong interpersonal skills which can provide leadership and guidance to content experts in the areas being assessed, decision makers who need to understand the assessment outcomes, or staff at various levels in the organization.

    Strong organizational skills to manage multiple functions and priorities in an efficient manner.
    Strong ability to influence, i.e.

    highly skilled in facilitating and working across functional areas and subsidiaries with which one has no direct responsibility and authority to ensure alignment of interests and resource optimization.

    Ability to maintain composure, tact, sensitivity and flexibility during peak periods and crisis intervention situations.
    Ability to analyze and conceptualize, and to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and with highly confidential information
    Ability to methodically plan, execute and control moderate to

    high-risk/prioritized

    initiatives/projects.

    Able to manage project scope, quality, cost and schedule to pre-determined constraints.

    Negotiation skills for sensitive, high level collaboration in developing partnerships which support Kamehameha Schools' vision and reflect the best in educational and business thinking and trends.

    Ability to plan and execute effective change management. Must be able to collaborate with stakeholders to identify and apply the appropriate change methodologies.
    Sound fiscal skills including cost-benefit analysis, budget projection analysis, etc. Analyze and comprehend financial statements, system reports, and spreadsheets.
    Ability to travel to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
    Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required to meet goals and objectives.
    Preferred Qualifications

    7+ years of education, administrative, or business management work experience to include but not limited to effective management of systems supporting business or educational programs and oversight of facility development and operations.

    Experience in using data to design a "roadmap" for programmatic improvement through focused interventions (through project management skills).
    Experience in working with the Native Hawaiian community.
    Experience with

    'aina/place/culture-based

    education models, curricula, programs and staff.
    Experience working with DOE, UH, Charter Schools and other educational entities and systems.
    Experience building community contacts and working relationships with a wide variety of groups.
    Experience working with land and resource management professionals and entities.

    Experience building a network, peer learning community, or other distributed organization and creating working relationships with a wide variety of groups.

    Physical Requirements
    Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.

    Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

    Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
    Working Conditions
    This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
    Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
    Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours.
