    The Engineer, Reliability is responsible for improving the reliability of facilities and production equipment in support of a cGMP manufacturing site to maximize quality and productivity while minimizing costs.

    This includes electrical distribution, large frame motors, chillers, pumps, HVAC systems, air compressors, production machines and related equipment. The position will work with facilities, maintenance and production groups to meet the reliability and energy savings targets. This position will also initiate, evaluate and manage process improvement, technical and capital projects. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining mechanical and electrical maintenance programs and calibration programs.


    Key responsibilities:


    Have a working knowledge of the electrical and mechanical job functionsConceive, justify and implement improvement projects and capital projects focused on productivity, reliability, cost, safety, efficiency or management direction while utilizing internal or external resourcesUnderstand and analyze technical data and utilize statistical process controlTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical and business issuesWork with others to coordinate mechanical activities and resources as neededCreate, maintain, and modify technical documents including work instructionsProvide technical support to other departmentsPrepare equipment performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and generate documents and graphs in MFG applicationsPerform other duties as requested by managementConfirm system and component capabilities by designing testing methodsEnsures compliance to federal and state regulations with EHS, electrical code, etc.

    Maintain mechanical and electrical maintenance and calibration programs through the use of the CMMS and other control systems.
    Interacts with MTC, R&D, and CDOS to maintain global technical standards and provides feedback of new technologies.

    Drive cost improvements through reliability enhancementsMust be able to work overtime - more than 40 hours per week or 8 hours per dayAttendance on plant site/office site is essentialMust be able to work weekends or holidays as business needs dictatePerform projects to meet organizational needsInitiates improvements within and between departmentsAble to accept direction from supervisionAble to work in a fluid environmentAble to react quickly to changes in work demands and manage changeSupport troubleshooting during critical problems by telephone or on-site after hours support.


    Key requirements:


    BS degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical, with at least 3 years engineering experience in a pharmaceutical environment or closely related industryIndirect supervisory experienceExperience in process control and trouble shootingExcellent written and oral communication skillsWork effectively in a team environment and to work with different groups and prioritize organizational needsDemonstrated leadership experienceAbility to make decisions under time constraintsIntermediate computer skillsAbility to implement self-initiated improvement projects to obtain goalsPublic speaking and presentation experienceExperience with SQC (statistical quality control) and DOE (design of experiment) preferredSix sigma green belt or black belt preferredExperience handling customer issuesAbility to analyze data via basic statisticsExperience in establishing reliability centered maintenance plans preferredFamiliarity of UL, NEC, NFPA and other national standards preferredExperience with building and automation systems and maintenance management systemsEvery day, Lonza's products and services have a positive impact on millions of people.
