SUMMARY:

This position is a diverse role responsible for day-to-day accounting duties while providing support for a variety of general accounting functions in a manufacturing environment. Primary responsibilities include processing accounts receivable, supporting payroll general ledger entries, analysis, and ad hoc processing, preparation and posting of journal entries to support the monthly financial close process, maintaining assigned general ledger account activity, variance analysis, and assisting with the internal and external audit functions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Operational Excellence

Responsible for the day-to-day Accounts Receivable operating cycle, including processing customer invoices, collection of payments, and maintaining customer master records.
Supports payroll processing, including recording payroll general ledger activity, reconciliations, and analysis, as well as ad hoc processing on a need only basis.
Performs month-end and year-end closings, including preparation and posting of journal entries for assigned accruals and maintaining assigned balance sheet general ledger account reconciliations.
Prepares, analyzes, and provides feedback for monthly variance analysis as assigned.
Supports quarterly inventory audits.
Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned, including backup for other accounting areas.

Compliance

Maintains customer records and ensures proper tax exemptions for reporting requirements.
Assists with interim and year-end external audit activity related to areas of responsibility. Interacts with auditors and prepares client workpapers and analysis.
Prepares and maintains work procedures for assigned tasks.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Achieve accounts receivable metrics to ensure timely and accurate customer invoicing and payment collections.
Accurate and timely processing of payroll journals and analysis.
Complete assigned month-end tasks timely and accurately to ensure close deadlines are met.
Ensure regulatory compliance for customer tax exemptions.
Drive continuous improvements and accurate processing to support a clean external audit.

Qualifications

TRAINING/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
2 - 4 years of related experience in Accounting; prefer progressive experience in accounts receivable and payroll accounting and extensive hands-on experience using an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
Proven knowledge of accounting, internal controls, audit, and financial principles.
Experience making continuous process improvements.
Strong aptitude for systems and software applications, with proficient skills using Microsoft applications.
