Job Summary
This Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to the department of Head and Neck Medical Oncology. In collaboration with the supervising physician and the administrative supervisor, the NP cares for patients receiving treatment for head and neck cancers. The NP provides clinical guidance to patients receiving systemic therapy for head and neck malignancies, including management of treatment toxicities, oncologic emergencies, symptom management, care coordination, triage assistance, and other duties as assigned
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

Department Description
The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical, and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 100+ cost centers, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources. Required Qualifications
Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master's degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
Two (2) to Three (3) years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a medical oncology setting or completion of a one-year comprehensive oncology APP fellowship program
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience caring for patients with head and neck cancers
- Experience working in an academic medical center
- AOCNP Certification
License/Certification
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction
- California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number including Schedule II furnishing privileges
- NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role
- California Driver License (if required for position)
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Additional required AHA certifications:
- Additional required certifications (such as ENLS): None
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
