About the Position

CHI, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Specialty Mechanic to join our operation. We run a fleet of volumetric concrete trucks and semi-trucks, and we need someone confident working on unique equipment, solving problems independently, and keeping our fleet running safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for a mechanic who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and wants to grow with a professional, well-established company.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain volumetric concrete trucks, semi-trucks, and other company vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance including electrical, hydraulics, brakes, fluid changes, tires, and air systems.
  • Complete welding and light fabrication work (MIG preferred; stick/TIG a plus).
  • Handle mobile service calls using a company service truck, including roadside assistance and onsite repairs.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and mixer components.
  • Maintain accurate logs of repairs, parts usage, and maintenance performed.
  • Communicate clearly with management regarding downtime, needed repairs, and safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company and FMCSA requirements.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with heavy-duty trucks, diesel engines, hydraulics, and air brake systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to run diagnostics and identify issues efficiently.
  • Understanding of DOT safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage service calls confidently.
  • Experience with volumetric concrete mixers is a plus, but training is provided.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of mechanical experience (heavy-duty preferred).
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required).
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors when necessary.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • Must pass pre-employment screening.
