    ResponsibilitiesAssists in supervision of policies and programs of the Therapeutic Recreation Department in areas of staffing, scheduling, programming, purchasing, calendars and QI, safety sanitation.

    Coordinates and administers therapeutic recreation programs which meet the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and spiritual well being of each resident.
    Follows established regulations mandated by State of Minnesota, OBRA, and policies and procedures of Saint Therese.
    Works under direct supervision, consulting with supervisor on departmental functions.


    Qualifications:

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy or related health care field of study required.
    Certification as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or in related discipline preferred but not required.
    • OR Two year degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program or related field;current certification as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and registered with the State of Minnesota Department of Health as an Occupational Therapy Assistant preferred but not required.

    Experience:
    Minimum of three to five year related experience in a structured recreation program serving the elderly, or fieldwork working with a geriatric population, with one to three years supervision of TR Staff

    Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    Ability to direct and instruct residents and staff using therapeutic recreation techniques and use adaptation techniques in recreation programsAbility to communicate through English, both oral and written skillsPossesses and able to generate enthusiasm about programsFlexibility to change work schedule as needs ariseDemonstrates ability to work collaboratively with all health care team membersComputer proficiencyEligible and/or willing to drive facility bus.

    Ability to perform necessary RAI documentation effectively.
    Provides quality customer services, focus and enthusiastic attitude.
