We are actively seeking a Coastal Engineer to join our Jacksonville office.  As part of the Coastal Group, the Coastal Engineer assists with the planning and design for Urban Waterfront and Coastal Structures projects, including marinas, urban waterfront developments, beach nourishment, shore protection structures, cruise ship facilities, wetland restoration, dredging, and flood walls.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Assists with leading and supporting planning and design for Waterfront and Coastal projects including shore protection structures, beaches, wetland restoration, piers, marinas, dredging, and flood walls
• Develops calculations, numerical models, and design documents to support engineering or environmental solutions
• Collaborates with other team members and clients to deliver effective project solutions
• Ensures project designs comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
• Successfully supports ongoing Coastal / Water practice business development efforts working with contacts at EPA, Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, Local Environmental agencies, as well as private sector clients
• Leads and assist engineers or scientists with site visits, inspections, and fieldwork, including instrument handling and deployment
• Participates in meetings and educational seminars
• Performs other duties as necessary

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Water Resources, and/or Coastal Engineering
• Master's degree in Coastal Engineering or related required
• Engineer in Training certification
• Ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in the State of Florida within 12 months of hire 
• 3+ years of related experience
• Experience with ADCIRC/SWAN/MIKE and/or XBeach numerical models
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
• Availability and willingness to travel
• All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST

Working conditions:
