    Description:


    This position is located at Collection Services Center and performs moderately complex accounting tasks and work of a clerical nature for the collection services center.

    Accurately sort, open and scan physical mail; Operate an Opex mail extraction machine and scanner. Receive and track mail received as payments and correspondence.

    Post child support payments to CSCPro (PC based payment processing system)


    Tasks include:

    reviewing financial instruments using scanned check images; inputs alpha/numeric information related to support payments using a PC keyboard; determines the need for research and acquires information concerning support payments from various sources including the child support mainframe system (ICAR), businesses, and individuals submitting payments; balances individual financial instrument amounts to associated CSC account totals.

    Inputs entries on Iowa Collection and Reporting System (ICAR) for proper accounting of payments. Setting up Direct Deposit, Auto Withdrawal and On Demand payments. Verify and monitor both obligee and obligor ACH payments. Identify and correct payment posting errors in the EFT payment journal, reconcile EFT payments to bank deposit.

    Locates scanned checks and correspondence to return, rescan or forward to CSRU field offices. Does quality review on the scanned checks and correspondence. Processing returned mail. Including indexing, updating, and narrating on the computer records the receipt of mail and updated address. Mails worker forms which may include payment records, Insurance Cards, returned payments and general correspondence. Pulls federal tax information to be logged and stored properly.

    Other Duties as assigned.

    Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency and two years of clerical accounting experience which involved the compilation, tabulation, examination, verification or recording of financial, statistical or related fiscal data using elementary bookkeeping principles and practices;

    OR

    the successful completion of a post-high school vocational/technical, business college, or area community college curriculum in accounting which included concentrated course work equivalent to twenty semester hours (or more) in accounting;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of employment in clerical office work for each year of the required education;

    OR

    substituting the successful completion of thirty semester hours or the academic equivalent in a post high school Business, Accounting or closely related curriculum for each year of the required experience;

    OR

    any equivalent combination of qualifying education or experience;

    OR


    employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of twelve months of full-time work as an Accounting Clerk 1 shall be considered as qualifying.
