    Pulmonary Rehab Respiratory Therapist - 14 hrs/wk, days Description

    The MGB Salem Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is looking for a dedicated, experienced respiratory therapist to join our Pulmonary Rehab Team to help patients meet their individual goals.

    In addition to exercise training, Pulmonary Rehab provides education and support to our patients to help them improve and manage the physical and emotional stress of lung disease.Smoking cessation support and education are also provided by our pulmonary rehabilitation clinicians to help patients with their smoking cessation goals.

    Our team includes specially trained respiratory therapist, physical therapist, exercise physiologist, and nurse led by a pulmonologist medical director. The team shares a deep commitment to the long-term health of the patients by helping them learn ways to decrease symptoms, build their confidence and improve their quality of life.

    The Respiratory Therapist participates in all aspects of the program which includes assessment, education, exercise, and behavioral/lifestyle management.

    The Respiratory Therapist directs and coordinates care for patients based on established clinical and practice standards and collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

    This position reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

    Qualifications
  • High level of clinical abilities, organizational and analytical skills, Regularly demonstrates the ability to exercise independent judgment. Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of people. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Satisfactory demonstration of knowledge of pulmonary diseases, patients' response to exercise and knowledge of pulmonary medications. Proficiency in using computers, ability to quickly gain competency in various hospital software applications. Demonstrates the ability to appropriately prioritize issues and needs. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR
  • , ACLS preferred.
  • 2+ years experience as a licensed respiratory therapist required
  • Experience working with pulmonary rehab patients preferred
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited college program of respiratory therapy
  • Massachusetts State license in Respiratory Therapy required
  • Member of Massachusetts Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehab (MACVPR) preferred.
