    Description
    Job Title: KERNEL Facilitator
    Department: FISH – KERNEL / Special Programs
    Hours: Temporary Summer, Part-time, Saturdays 8am-1:30pm and planning time as needed.
    Reports to: Special Programs Coordinator, Direct Report/Ultimate Report

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:
    The KERNEL facilitator will manage the KERNEL booth at the Ellensburg Farmer's Market every Saturday from June 22nd to August 24th, 2024 (except July 6th). They'll engage children in learning about nutrition and the food system through provided curriculum and interactive activities. The facilitator will collaborate with the Special Programs Coordinator, plan activities, and oversee booth setup and takedown each Saturday with volunteer support.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Lead educational activities for children on nutrition and the food system, organize games, and supervise planting and craft activities.
    • Conduct activities with enthusiasm and care for the children.
    • Coordinate with the Special Programs Coordinator to plan engaging activities.
    • Transport KERNEL supplies between FISH Food Bank and the Ellensburg Farmer's Market. 
    • Maintain an orderly and tidy work environment.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Participate in training sessions.
    • Adhere to FISH Employee Handbook guidelines.
    • Supervise 1-2 volunteers during Farmer's Market hours.
    • Demonstrate professional behavior while on duty.
    • Operate FISH vehicles following traffic regulations.
    • Accurately record activity attendance weekly.
    • Keep open communication with Special Programs Coordinator for necessary supplies.

    Job Requirements:
    • Strong oral communication skills.
    • Ability to manage groups of children of different sizes for activities.
    • Time management skills and punctuality.
    • Excellent customer service abilities.
    • Willingness to commute between FISH Food Bank and Ellensburg Farmer's Market.

    Qualifications:
    • Previous experience working with children.
    • Experience with children aged 3-12 is advantageous.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a bonus.
    • Ability to pass a background check.

    Physical Demands:
    • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Extended periods of standing.
