POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma required; Associate's Degree in a clinical or scientific field preferred. Current clinical registration or licensure as one of the following preferred: RCIS, RCVT, RN, LPN, CCPT, RT, or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). At least three (3) years of Cath Lab, interventional, or procedural experience required. Strong knowledge of sterile technique, infection control standards, and Cath Lab procedures required. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, dependability, and motivated individuals preferred. Ability to meet continuing education requirements as required by state law to maintain licensure.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist physicians in the tasks and responsibilities necessary for the performance of vascular catheterization, peripheral angiography, and minimally invasive vascular procedures in an office-based procedural setting. Independently provide patient care before, during, and after procedures with minimal supervision while maintaining strict sterile technique, ensuring patient safety, and promoting efficient procedural flow.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a list of major responsibilities of the Catheterization Laboratory Technician / Scrub Technician. It is not intended to be an all-inclusive summary; additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Maintain and operate Cath Lab and recovery equipment.
- Use sterile technique to set up and maintain the appropriate instrument and supply tables for various procedures.
- Establish and maintain the sterile field throughout all procedures and monitor for breaks in sterile technique.
- Prepare and position patients for procedures and monitor patients during and after procedures.
- Assist physicians during Cath Lab and vascular procedures, including assisting with injections and procedural instrumentation.
- Circulate within the procedure room to anticipate provider needs and ensure smooth case progression.
- Manage sterile instruments, catheters, wires, medications, and supplies during procedures.
- Maintain and operate imaging and image-processing equipment.
- Administer appropriate medications and dosages per physician order before, during, and after procedures under direct physician supervision.
- Collect, record, and analyze complex physiological and laboratory data.
- Assist with accurate procedural documentation and enter required data into reporting systems.
- Perform efficient room turnover between cases to maintain daily schedule flow.
- Maintain adequate inventory of medications and supplies and reorder as necessary.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality control measures.
- Safely transport patients to recovery and monitor patients during transport.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the procedure and recovery areas.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and autoclave processing of instruments and equipment according to protocol.
- Ensure proper disposal of biohazard and radioactive waste in compliance with OSHA and the Florida State Office of Radiation Control regulations.
- Meet continuing education requirements to maintain required licensure or certification.
- Perform any other duties required to provide safe and effective patient care and assist the physician and administrator within the scope of practice and physical requirements of the position.
