We are seeking a Biomedical Engineer to contribute to the development of our next-generation brain-machine interface.You will lead R&D efforts and assist other teams to implement prototypes in various preclinical models to demonstrate safety and efficacy of our technology.

Contribute to the development of a minimally invasive surgical implantation technique for Axoft depth electrodes based on innovative solutions.
Develop back-end, handling, and preparation protocols of our prototypes to enhance preclinical research outcomes for future medical devices.
Identify engineering problems such as unexpected experimental outcomes, equipment issues, prototypes failure modes and take part in cause-and-effect analysis.
Assist preclinical experiments involving rodent neurosurgery, behavioral experiments, and data analysis.
Collaborate and report to the Senior Research Scientist about the general progress and manage the research animals.

Key qualifications:
M.S. in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, neurosciences, or a related field.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to new technologies and procedures.
1-2 years of experience involving animal care and handling experience required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed.
Familiar with neurosurgery techniques.
Comfortable with working with preclinical animal models.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred qualifications:
Ph.
D. in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, neurosciences, or a related field.
Direct experience in materials sciences, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering preferred.
Experience in large preclinical models (canine, ovine, or equivalent) and/or non-human primate neurosurgery in a research setting.
Proven experience and expertise in rodent neurosurgery techniques ( e.g.
craniotomy, durotomy)
Experience in the development and/or implantation of neural probes ( e.g.
patch clamp, tetrode, flexible implants).
Experience in mechanical simulation techniques such as finite element modeling (FEM) to analyze and optimize the design of biomedical devices and implants.
This position will be on-site at our various locations in Cambridge, MA.This position requires the ability to perform preclinical duties for up to two hours without interruption and requires the ability to work multiple days a week in the laboratory and vivarium environments.
